Clem Kadiddlehopper is a backwoods disc jockey – and Tennessee Ernie Ford drops by! Then, Red performs as the vicious Captain Hook!
Captain Hook – The Red Skelton Show season 3, February 16, 1954
Red’s opening monologue contains several jokes about recent rainstorms in Los Angeles and about how different people ask stars for autographs.
Backwoods Disk Jockey
The first sketch features Clem Kadidddlehopper as a backwoods disc jockey. There’s a fair amount of prop comedy — ‘keep those cards and letters coming’. Then Tennessee Ernie Ford appears as a special guest on Clem’s radio show. After the two try verbal jousting with backwoods expressions, Ford, along with singers and dancers, performs “Ya’ll Come and See Us.”
Captain Hook
The infamous pirate of the ship Albatross bosses his crew around until challenged by Max the Black, former Captain of the ship until he was locked in irons by Hook.
Captain Hook: Where’s my first mate?
Sailor: You killed him.
Captain Hook: Oh, yeah. Where’s my second mate?
Sailor: You killed him, too.
Captain Hook: Where’s my third mate?
Sailor: He killed himself.
Captain Hook: He killed himself?
Sailor: You were busy.
