Richmond, Va. Feb. 12 – (AP) – Pvt. Richard “Red” Skelton, the radio comedian and motion picture actor, said here today that he and Miss Georgia Davis, of Kalispell, Mont. would be married soon, if he is in the country long enough to permit it.
“The only thing that bothers me,” the red-headed comedian said, “is that I might have so ship over before I have time to get married.”
Skelton, who for the last nine days has been at McGuire Army general hospital for treatment for a throat ailment, said he would rather be “a buck private than anything else in this man’s Army.” He said he had ben offered a private first class rating some time ago but had turned it down.
He leaves here today to continue his camp tours — he has done 216 shows in the last 6 weeks — but said he expects to be transferred abroad in the very new future.
