Skelton Scrapbook – Corn on the Cob

Red Skelton as Iowa Pete, demonstrating How To Eat Corn On The Cob

As Iowa Pete, Red Skelton demonstrates different ways that people eat corn on the cob. As you might expect, Pete is a very “corny” individual. He frankly reminds me of Red’s obnoxious character in “The Show-Off“. He does a pantomime of how different people each corn.

The Andrini Brothers

The Andrini Brothers

A very entertaining musical duo, by the way, with a lot of comedy between the two “feuding” brothers.

Film Scrapbook – Wash Day

Cauliflower McPugg visits a laundromat. After joking with the three people waiting in the laundromat with the typical hearing bells:

Cauliflower McPugg: I don’t hear bells?
Customer: No!
Cauliflower McPugg: You wanna bet?
Customer: Sure!
Cauliflower McPugg: Here comes the Good Humor man — we’ll let him hold the money.

Cauliflower has to leave to get his boxing trunks cleaned at the dry cleaners, Of course, this turns into a Tide commercial. Speaking of the washing machines:

Cauliflower McPugg: I thought they was television sets, with nothin’ on but bubbles!
Customer: How was she?
Cauliflower McPugg: We’re gonna miss you around here …

Skelton Scrapbook – Debt of a Salesman

Willy Lump-Lump tells his wife that he has been fired from his salesman job. It’s a very funny sketch, with lots of visual humor. Beginning with Willy driving home, and mistaking the dog house for the garage! Then, he has to take off his vest. Overcoat. Sweater. Another vest … Then the room with the surplus of doors, to keep Willy from sneaking out at night.

Eventually he gets to the parody of “Death of a Salesman“, but swiftly gets back to the visual jokes. His wife suggests he needs a vacation. Which reminds him of the time he caught the swordfish mounted on the wall — and has a sword duel with it!

At the end, his consolation is his only friend, Fido. His wife objects that they don’t own a dog. But Willy brings in Fido, his pet elephant!
